Eduardo Gory Guerrero Llanes was a Mexican American professional wrestler born October 9, 1967 and died November 13, 2005. Always better known by his ring name Eddie Guerrero, Eddie was born into a legendary Mexican wrestling family. Through the 1990s, Eddie had a distinguished career, working for almost every major professional wrestling promotion throughout the United States during that period: World Championship Wrestling, Extreme Championship Wrestling, and World Wrestling Entertainment.
Guerrero's in-ring persona was that of a resourceful and crafty wrestler who would do nearly anything to win a match. His famous mantra became "Cheat to Win" Eddie. Despite being a heel for the majority of his career, Eddie became popular in and outside the ring.
Throughout his career, Guerrero fought with various substance abuse problems outside of wrestling, including an addiction to pain killers and alcoholism. His problems outside of the ring were sometimes combined into his storylines inside the ring. Notwithstanding these issues, Guerrero won a wide variety of titles during his career, including the WWE Championship.
